The AHO Celebrates 10th Anniversary

 Celebrating the AHO’s 10th anniversary

The Aboriginal Heritage Office celebrated its 10th anniversary in March 2010. Mayors, Councillors, General Managers and other special guests came to the Northbridge office to celebrate the success of this unique partnership working to protect the Aboriginal heritage of the area. Aboriginal Heritage Manager David Watts, who started the project with North Sydney, Lane Cove, Warringah and Willoughby Council in 2000, thanked those who had contributed to making the AHO such a success.

City of Ryde Council Joins the AHO

On 24 March 2010 the City of Ryde Council became a partner Council after entering into a memorandum of understanding with the The Aboriginal Heritage Office.  The AHO is looking forward to working on the Aboriginal site management report for the Ryde Council area over the next few months.   Once the known and potential sites issues have been reviewed, local schools and eductional facilities will be contacted and we are excited about visiting lots of new classes to talk about Aboriginal heritage in the Ryde as well as promoting the conservation and care of this part of our environment.
